"Autonis 2008" design award: Audi the most successful brand

Oct 2, 2008
In the "Autonis 2008" reader poll sponsored by the magazine "auto motor und sport" (ams), an impressive three Audi models emerged triumphant in the face of high-caliber competition from all over the world. Wins for the A3, A4 and Audi Q5 made the brand with the four rings the most successful carmaker in this year's poll.
The Audi A3 was the winner of the "Compact Class" by quite some distance. The car magazine's readers voted the A3 the most attractive compact car of 2008, with 47.4 percent of the votes.

The Audi A4, too, enjoyed a clear lead in the "Midsize" category. With almost 40 percent of the votes, the A4 topped the reader poll for the "Best New Designs of 2008".

The brand's success was completed by the Audi Q5 in the "Off-Road Vehicle" category. Even before its launch, the Audi Q5 likewise streaked ahead of its competitors, capturing 29.2 percent of the votes.

A total of 14,300 readers of the magazine auto motor und sport took part in the "Autonis – Best New Designs of 2008" poll. They were offered a choice of 88 new models in eight categories.

The awards were presented this Thursday evening by ams Editor-in-Chief Bernd Ostmann during the Paris Motor Show to Walter Maria de'Silva, Head of Volkswagen Group Design, for the Audi Q5; to Wolfgang Egger, Head of Audi Group Design, for the Audi A3; and to Stefan Sielaff, Head of Audi Design, for the Audi A4.
