When Design Meets Style and Elegance

Style and elegance – this is the link between Audi’s design and fashion. Audi has always had a very strong design language. Much like the collections of Christian Lacroix, Gareth Pugh and Vivienne Westwood, Audi personifies prestige, progressiveness and sophistication.

The Audi Fashion Festival is, among other things, a showcase of design and vision for Singapore’s quest to become the fashion capital in this region.

To acquire such a status, we need to draw inspiration from those who have gone before and support those who come after. Audi applauds home grown talents. At this year’s Festival, we are proud to have Singapore-born Ashley Isham, whose glittering designs have won over the fashion world. Tomorrow evening the London-based designer will showcase his couture collection.

We are delighted also to introduce the Audi Young Designer’s Award (AYDA) to Singapore. And I want to congratulate again Teo Ying Hui for her winning collection, Demisemiquaver. The AYDA was conceived to discover and nurture young talents in fashion design. I have no doubt that all the finalists’ designs exemplify creativity and progressiveness – key criteria for driving the future of this industry.

The AYDA includes a cash prize of $20,000, which will go towards supporting and developing the business of the young designer. Arguably of greater importance is the opportunity to be mentored by Vivienne Westwood, one of Britain’s grand dames of fashion design.

Another visual of style and elegance at the Audi Fashion Festival is the new Audi A3 Cabriolet. Since the Festival is about style and expression, the A3 Cabriolet is the perfect fit. The car is an expression of freedom, and embodies an elegant and beautiful design. At the same time, the soft, fabric top pays homage to Audi’s heritage by making certain the design of the car is a fluid whole.

Audi is proud to bring to life the vision for this Festival – a tour de force in fashion design and stage for a fascinating car such as the A3 Cabriolet.
