In FSI technology, the fuel is injected directly into the combustion chamber and atomised into a fine spray. This way, the fuel - metered to almost droplet precision - can be called upon the millisecond that the engine requires it. Ths means better utilisation of fuel and ultimately reduced consumption.
Just how important optimum utilisation of fuel is, has been demonstrated at the legendary Le Mans 24 hours. There, the Audi R8, powered by an FSIFSIGetting more out of every drop of petrol.FSI engine, has been able to enjoy several convincing victories.
The 2.8 FSI produces 150 kW (204 hp) and 280 Nm (206.52 lb-ft) of torque at 5,250 rpm. The torque is available from 3,000 to 5,000 rpm. Audi pairs this engine with the S tronicS tronicFaster gearshifts, sportier driving: the S tronic combines the sporty characteristics of a manual gearbox with the advantages of an automatic.S tronic transmission and quattro all-wheel drive. The A7 Sportback 2.8 FSI quattro sprints from zero to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) in 8.3 seconds and has a top speed of 235 km/h (146.02 mph). It consumes just 8.0 liters of fuel per 100 km, which corresponds to only 187 grams of CO2/km.

The six-cylinder engine has a powerful output of 220 kW (300 hp). The A7 Sportback is equipped with an innovative mechanical turbocharging system with intercooler which turns the 3.0 TFSITFSIAudi was the first manufacturer in the world to combine petrol direct injection with turbocharging in large-scale car productionTFSI into a compact power plant with moderate fuel consumption. The engine is impressive not only for its peak torque of 440 Nm, but also its torque curve: at least 90 % of the maximum torque is available across a speed range of 2,900 rpm to 4,500 rpm. Thanks to its highly spontaneous response and exceptional power delivery across the entire speed range, the six-cylinder engine also permits a particularly dynamic driving style. The Audi A7 Sportback accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds and still has abundant power reserves beyond this mark. And naturally it complies with the Euro 5 emission standard.
