The new Audi e-tron GT — raising the bar on premium electric mobility
The first fully electric high-performance sports car from Audi is pushing the boundaries of premium electric mobility with its sophisticated and smart craftsmanship, electrifying performance, revolutionary technology, and sustainable production.
The new Audi e-tron GT and the Audi RS e-tron GT launched in Singapore on 8 September 2021 via an online premiere and the two new models showcase Audi’s technological and design perfection in every detail. The Audi e-tron GT marks a new era as it reinterprets the traditional gran turismo concept in this fully electric sports car while the Audi RS e-tron GT is the pinnacle of luxury e-mobility as the first fully electric member of Audi’s RS range.
Host of the online premiere, Mediacorp CLASS 95 DJ and Audi Brand Ambassador Yasminne Cheng, said, “The Audi e-tron GT is Audi’s first fully electric sports car and represents a very important milestone by showcasing what premium electric mobility will look like.”
The online premiere had special guests, fashion illustrator Grace Ciao, textile artist and multi-hyphenate Ginette Chittick, foodtech entrepreneur Alan Phua, and veteran car critic Leow Ju-Len who shared their thoughts on the new Audi e-tron GT. The online event also featured behind-the-scenes insights from the international Audi AG team responsible for creating the new models, and a few words from Audi Singapore’s Managing Director, Markus Schuster, and Head of Marketing, Rudi Venter. .
The Audi e-tron GT, which premiered globally in February, is the third Audi e-tron to be launched following the Audi e-tron and the Audi e-tron Sportback. .
Now available in Singapore, the new two models are the pride of the brand for delivering the unmistakable Audi DNA: sophisticated craftsmanship, electrifying performance and range, revolutionary technology, and sustainable production.
Perfect package and proportions, and emotional design
“The basis of good design are proportions, and the proportions are defined by the package. The package and the proportions of the Audi e-tron GT are simply perfect,” said Marc Lichte, Head of Design, Audi AG.
While GTs are known for their high speeds and optimum performance, the Audi e-tron GT perfectly encapsulates all that along with premium luxury and exquisite bodywork. The five-seater four-door coupé combines sleek looks, superior comfort and sustainability with the Audi e-tron GT’s improved exterior design and the car’s sustainable interior made from leather-free fabric and recycled materials.
On the outside, the Audi e-tron GT has aerodynamic features like the air curtain, flush rocker, sharp edges, a quattro fender, and a huge diffuser in the rear end, giving it a distinct look when viewed from the sides and back.
Inside, the seat covers and carpet are predominantly made of sustainable materials such as polyester fibres that were constructed from recycled PET bottles, textiles, or residual fibres. The leather-free interior is the work of Simona Falcinella, Head of Colour and Trim, Audi AG, and her team. She is responsible for the Audi e-tron GT’s sustainable interior that gives owners an emotional connection to their car. “When you enter your car every morning, there is a very subtle sound, and you recognise this sound — it is your car.”
Acoustics that’s worth a thousand words
The all-new Audi e-tron GT is also raising the bar on EV acoustic sound design. Carefully engineered and sampled from different instruments and objects, the full electric sports car has a futuristic sporty sound that’s unique to the Audi e-tron range.
More than just a fast car
When it comes to performance, the Audi RS e-tron GT boasts an impressive 0 to 100km/h in 3.3 seconds. For an EV, it has a wide operating range and fast charging speeds to give maximum driving enjoyment, placing the two new models at the top end of what EVs can be capable of.
The models have the hallmarks of what is expected of an Audi car, from the technologically advanced touchscreen controls, dynamic handling, to outstanding electric all-wheel drive. Audi’s first-class light technology also comes into play with the matrix LED headlamps with Audi laser light and LED rear combination lamps and dynamic turn signals (standard for the Audi RS e-tron GT and optional for the Audi e-tron GT). This lighting scheme is the brand’s latest high-illumination, low energy technology further amplifying Audi’s signature front-of-car look.
“The Audi e-tron GT sets out to shape our brand’s vision for the future. Tonight, it’s more than just the launch of a new model. It’s the start of greater things to come for Audi in Singapore,” shared Markus Schuster, Managing Director for Audi Singapore.
“We believe that the future is electric. And our aim is to provide premium automotive solutions to meet that challenge head on.”
