Every little counts when it comes to being more environmentally responsible – even gift giving!
With the festive season just around the corner and everything we’ve gone through this year, there are even more reasons to celebrate as we come together with family and friends. The year has given us renewed appreciation not just for health and quality time with our loved ones but for the importance of nature and the environment as well.
At Audi, sustainability has always been one of our core beliefs and guiding principles. We are committed to minimising our environmental impact, preserving natural resources, avoiding environmental pollution and assuming social responsibility in everything we do – from operations to engineering, to production, right down to our employee wellbeing.
As individuals, it’s just as important to be more eco-conscious. Imagine your actions multiplied by millions if everyone did their part in their own small ways, it can be monumental! Living a more sustainable lifestyle is not as intimidating as it may appear – the key is to take it one step at a time. Why not start this festive season by going green with your gift giving?
“Looking for ‘sustainable’ gifts may be a bit hard because of limited options, but if there’s a choice – then you should go for that,” said Mediacorp CLASS 95 DJ and Audi Brand Ambassador Yasminne Cheng. “You can always incorporate it in many ways like skipping or upcycling gift wrappers. It’s great if you can do it in a big way, but even if you can’t, it’s just as important to have the right mindset and intention.”
Another way to go green this festive season is to gift unique experiences instead of material things. We join Yasminne as she goes for a perfume creation workshop by Maison 21G that hits the right notes with its strong sustainability promise.
Bottled with care
Maison 21G’s sustainability promise continues right down to its glass bottles. They use a minimum of 90% biodegradable materials, refillable bottles and reusable packaging. This means that after the perfume’s done, the used bottle can still be given a new lease of life through recycling (or by heading back to Maison 21G to get a refill or a new concoction). Even the multi-purpose string bag that comes with your perfume can be repurposed for other uses – nothing goes to waste.
The nose knows best
According to Maison 21G’s perfume experts and scent designers, we remember 35% of what we smell, 5% of what we see, 2% of what we hear, and 1% of what we touch – which makes this perfume creation experience perfect for anyone looking to gift something that will leave a lasting impression. Yasminne agrees, “It makes a great gift because the person actually learns more about themselves and what they want. It’s a very personal discovery and that’s what makes it fun.”
Sustainability beyond gift giving
Inspired? Sustainable gifting is applicable to all occasions, and there are many other ways you can practice being more environmentally conscious. Make this one of your new year’s resolutions!
