LEDs arranged in a matrix use data recorded by the camera, sensors and navigation system to illuminate the surroundings precisely and selectively. LEDs are switched on and off in fractions of a second, can be dimmed and require no swivelling mechanism. The conventional division between dipped and high beam is virtually dispensed with; convenience functions such as the static turning light, all-weather light, dynamic cornering light, permanent high beam with partial masking of multiple other road users as required, junction light, as well as travel mode, motorway light and town light are integrated into the LED technology. Near-daylight illumination of the road, minimal energy requirements, long service life and excellent recognition by other road users, thanks to the crisp Audi lighting pattern, with day and night design configurations, and the dynamic indicators in the headlights and rear lights.
